What I would consider my “adult” fitness journey began after having my 2nd son in 2016.  I have been somewhat athletic my whole life but after gaining (and luckily losing) 60 lbs. with each of my pregnancies my body was definitely not where I wanted it to be.  I began occasionally working out when I realized that I have 2 young sons, and I probably should be able to run a mile at any given moment just to keep up with them!  I also knew that as my boys primary female influence in life I wanted them to see me as a strong and committed woman that works hard for her goals.  I wanted them to see exercise and physical activity as being a normal part of our lives, something that we just always do, no matter what kind of sport or activity they decide they enjoy.  At that point I couldn’t run a mile without stopping numerous times.  A friend convinced me to sign up for a 5k that spring, which I did.  I quickly went to working out 5 days a week, and in 2018 I ran my first half marathon.  I was consistently working out and running, but I still didn’t feel my best.

Over the past 3 years I have run lots of races, and last summer I even ran across the state of NY (virtually) for a total of 641 miles over the course of 12 weeks.  Given everything that 2020 threw at us, running became my therapy.  But I still didn’t feel 100%.

My husband had gone to Pedram a few years ago and had amazing results, and in October I knew I was ready for a change and joined Valpo FiTrain.  Then in December I decided I was finally tired of trying to lose that “last 10 pounds” and decided to try the 6 week challenge.  Over the challenge I lost 16 pounds, and finally gained control of my eating habits.  My amazingly supportive husband did the challenge with me, and together we lost a total of 40 pounds in 6 weeks, but more importantly we gained an entirely new mindset about our health in the long-term.  We tried a bunch of new foods and recipes, and were shocked at how much we love them!  Pedram made it so simple and I can honestly say I believe that our family’s health is forever changed.  He has celebrated every success right along with me, no matter how small.  My goals have become his goals.  Since October I have lost over 20 pounds and 12 inches.  I am so thankful for Pedram and everyone at FiTrain that truly are a family-they see the best in each of us, and push us to exceed even our own expectations.
